Started my Run & Gun Training today with a 3 mile run with my Condor chest rig with #13 of
weight. The conditions were in the cool 50s and sunny. Great weather to run in. I was using a brick (5lb) taped up and stuffed in front and an 8lb hand weight in the in the water bladder carrier stuffed with some towels for padding so it won't bounce on my spine during my run. Ran through my neighborhood with varying elevation. Follow me on STRAVA to see my pace and elevation. Ran on pavement and some dirt. I use a Garmin 235 watch to track my pace and heart rate. Tried to maintain a 150 bpm rate for a tempo pace which ended up being a11:25 min/mile pace. Yes, I got a few crazy looks but this is the south so nothing odd about a guy running around with a chest rig. I even passed a sheriff deputy and gave a quick hello. I am not a runner so this is one area I always I need to work on especially if you plan to carry extra weight.
